NEA Big Read Series
Join us to read, explore, and celebrate Harriet Tubman: The Road to Freedom by Catherine Clinton — a powerful story of courage, resistance, and liberation. In partnership with the Underground Railroad of Burlington County and the Burlington Quaker Meeting House, this community-wide journey comes alive through a Kick Off event on September 13, followed by three in-person book discussions featuring re-enactments, storytelling, blues writing, a quilt exhibition, and a culminating celebration for Juneteenth. Visit our website often for updates.
Learn More
Young storytellers ages 7 to 18 come together bi-monthly for a dynamic, hands-on experience rooted in the African American Oral Tradition. Through fun and interactive workshops, youth amplify their voice, conduct discovery, research, write, perform, and even manage their own nonprofit — all while sharing their cultural heritage on stages locally and nationally!

Almost 1,000 files of oral histories, photography and videography make up the collection. The Collection was celebrated at the Library of Congress on February 27, 2025 with a Soul Line Dance Party in Jefferson Hall, Washington DC. WE MADE HISTORY!
Learn MoreWho We Are
In FACT, Inc. was founded by Karen "Queen Nur" Abdul-Malik and incorporated in 2011 in Willingboro, New Jersey. Our mission is to preserve and perpetuate folklife traditions and to use these traditions to sustain communities and affect social change.
The organization is primarily focused on serving communities of the African diaspora. We welcome volunteers and always seek to uplift community voice through our work that embodies folk arts, living traditions, history and humanities. At the heart of everything we do is a deep belief that community members are the true decision makers — their voices, stories, and vision shape our service projects from the very beginning. We work to inspire community ownership through intentional interpretive planning processes that honor lived experience and collective wisdom.
